January 30th, 2011 Chengdu Airport Express Audit

I was in Chengdu Shuangliu Airport and stood in line to get the first seat of the CCME equipped bus. I stood at the back of the line and watched 3 buses go by carrying about 130 people away. I caught the fourth bus.

When I got on, I saw that the screen was off... the CCME screen turns on when the bus engine goes on.

The programming went into a Sichuan Post-Earthquake promo video... to describe the indefatigable spirit of the Sichuan people after the 2008 earthquake killed over 70k people and injured hundreds of thousands in the area around Chengdu.

I also asked the driver, how often does CCME come to update the programming? He said it depends usually on how often they have new commercial content... he estimated that CCME come every 2 weeks or so.

The next video starts with Zhaopin.com and ends with a Pepsi infomercial where the CEO of Pepsi China explains what Pepsi's strategy in China is all about.

The bus is completely full and many are watching.

In the infomercial, I saw Jolin Tsai (Taiwanese pop star), Thierry Henry (French Soccer star). Sorry, this ride is bumpy. Chengdu is a big construction zone... testifying to the GDP growth in China.
